PRIMATE RESCUE CENTER NICHOLASVILLE KY
The Primate Rescue Center Nicholasville KY is a nationally respected sanctuary housing more than 50 primates, including 11 chimpanzees. The sanctuary occupies some 30 acres in central Kentucky, with buildings and grounds designed to afford the sanctuary’s animals a quiet, sheltered place to spend their lives. The centerpiece of the operation is a state-of-the-art chimpanzee enclosure that was completed in the summer of 2007. In addition, the PRC features 10 custom indoor/outdoor enclosures with heated houses; the social groups of monkeys occupying these spacious enclosures are free to choose where they wish to spend their time, and most spend at least part of the day outdoors.
The Primate Rescue Center is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, nonprofit organization and receives no direct funding from the federal government or the state of Kentucky. They rely on generous donations from individuals, service providers, and other corporate partners. They have a very active and robust volunteer program, and are always grateful for the hard work these dedicated individuals perform. Some of their volunteers work onsite, where they help with everything from general maintenance to preparing the animals’ food and keeping the main office running smoothly.
